2 Escaped Convicts Stormed His House, Armed Dad “Prayed Like He Had Never Prayed Before.” Then The Miraculous Happened

When a young father spotted two escaped convicts charging towards his home, he loaded every gun he owned and prayed like he had never prayed before. But what happened next is leaving Americans at a loss for words.

A 35-year-old Tennessee man is making headlines after two dangerous fugitives surrendered to him in his driveway. But the story leading up to this shocking surrender can only be described as a miracle.

On a Thursday morning, Patrick Hale was warned by a friend that two armed convicts had made their way to his neighborhood. Upon hearing the alarming news, the proud husband and father immediately loaded his weapons and was prepared to do whatever he needed to do to protect his wife, Danielle, and their young daughter, Taylor.

“I loaded every weapon I could in my house to be prepared in the event that they needed to be used,” Hale told reporters.

The two convicts, Donnie Rowe, 43, and Ricky Dubose, 24, had prison sentences for unrelated assault and armed robbery convictions.

The inmates reportedly managed to escape while being transferred via bus to a prison in Georgia. The convicts worked together to overtake, disarm, and fatally shoot two police officers, Officers Christopher Monica and Curtis Billue.

Armed with the fallen officers’ weapons, Rowe and Dubose proceeded to carjack a man who pulled up behind the prison bus, making their getaway in his Honda Civic.

The escapees went on to commit a series of crimes as they stole cars, clothing, food and money across Tennessee. At one point, the heartless convicts held an elderly couple hostage at gunpoint for over three hours before taking off with their Jeep. Thankfully, the couple managed to dial 911 and alert police.

“We’ve had an armed home invasion,” the victim reportedly told a 911 dispatcher. “It’s the two people from Georgia, escapees. They’re in a black Jeep Cherokee Trailblazer. We need help out here quick … hurry!”

Police tracked down the pair and were trying to pull them over when the escapees began shooting. After a 20-mile, high-speed car chase, the convicts crashed the Jeep and escaped into the woods.

With deputies in hot pursuit, the suspects left their stolen weapons in the wrecked Jeep and stumbled through the woods charging towards the first home they saw — the Hale family’s home.

As Patrick Hale looked out the back door and saw the convicts a mere 300 yards from his family, he didn’t waste any time. Making a split-second decision, Hale grabbed his daughter as he and his wife ran towards their car.

Hale recalled: “I loaded every weapon I could in my house to be prepared in the event that they needed to be used and prayed like I’ve never prayed before. I called 911 and had the decision to either get in our panic room and be trapped or get in our car and head down the road. I grabbed my sweet daughter and got in the car … we saw the men had been running and were much closer to my house now.”

The Hale family prayed with all their might. But as they backed out of the driveway, they couldn’t believe their eyes. Without Hale firing a shot or even drawing a weapon, the two convicts surrendered to him and lay face-down on the family’s concrete driveway.

“They took off their shirts and waved them at us as if to slow us down. I realized I had two ex-cons wanted for murder who had just shot at law enforcement who had nothing to lose and for some reason they surrendered and laid down on the concrete in my driveway. If that doesn’t make you believe in Jesus Christ, I don’t know what does,” Hale told reporters at a press conference.

Within three minutes of Hale’s call to 911, over 45 police officers arrived to apprehend the pair.

Hale is convinced that God played the biggest role in apprehending the suspects and ensuring his family’s safety.

After hearing how this story came to a shocking, miraculous end, I couldn’t help but think of Exodus 14:13-14, which reads:

“Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today…The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

Thank God for His sovereign protection! May we never forget to pray when we find ourselves in times of fear. Thank you, Patrick Hale, for boldly standing firm in your faith. Please share if this powerful story encouraged your heart today.
