It’s not everyday you walk into a church and get to hear from Debbie Lee, a mother of the first Navy SEAL to give his life in Iraq. On Sunday May 24th, Lee spoke at Ed Young’s church, “Fellowship Church” in Grapevine, Texas.
Lee’s son, Marc Alan Lee was the first killed in action during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2006 in Ramadi while exposing himself to enemy fire as a medical team evacuated a wounded Navy SEAL.
Lee was awarded with the Silver Star, the Bronze Star with Valor and The Purple Heart.
What this mother had to say about God, Memorial Day, and America brought me to tears. This is POWERFUL:
“I’ve been on a campaign for 8-9 years to try and educate people about Memorial Day. Memorial Day is not Veterans Day. It isn’t Armed Forces Day. This is not the time we corporately or nationally recognize our veterans that served.
This is the time that we remember the sacrifices of each man and woman that have given their life in combat and on the battlefield for the freedoms we enjoy each and every day”.
Wow. This is outstandingly powerful. Now THIS is what remembering our troops is ALL ABOUT, and if you don’t respect our soldiers you can just leave our country for good.
