After months of rumors, Chip and Joanna Gaines are finally breaking their silence. And America’s favorite power couple just got a whole lot cuter. This makes me so happy!
The stars of HGTV’s hit show, Fixer Upper, have been happily married for almost 14 years. And on Thursday, the adorable dynamic duo finally addressed the recent pregnancy rumors surrounding their family — and their news may not be what you’d expect!
When the Gaines were asked to share a bit about their kiddos, they joyfully obliged. And watching these two adorable lovebirds gush about their happy little family may be my new favorite thing ever!Amidst a world full of heartache, divorce, and broken families, Chip and Joanna Gaines are a bright, shining beacon of hope, as their love for God and one another sets a different kind of example.
With God on their side, it seems as though everything Chip and Joanna Gaines put their hands to turns into gold. Hand-in-hand, the dynamic duo has built an empire from the ground up — all the while giving glory to God. The flawless couple recently shared that their primary goal in life is to keep Christ first and foremost in their lives.
The Gaines told CBS Sunday Morning: “Our family has made a commitment to put Christ first, a lifestyle our parents modeled for us very well. They showed us how to keep our marriage and family centered around God. As for ‘Fixer Upper,’ we have been surprised at the impact of our faith through the show. We haven’t been overtly evangelical, but the rich feedback we have received on family and love all source from our faith. Jesus said the world would know His disciples by their love for one another, and we’ve glimpsed this in practice and strive for it every day.”
Although their four children — Drake, 12, Ella, 10, Duke, 9, and Emmie Kay, 7 — occasionally appear on ‘Fixer Upper’, Chip and Joanna do everything their power to ensure that their kids are raised in a lifestyle that’s as ‘normal’ as possible.
Joanna told People: “They’re so young and we want to give them the chance to have a normal childhood.”
Chip and Joanna are so committed to keeping their family grounded that they don’t even own a single television!
Joanna revealed: “Our first year of marriage, we had a fun couple that was our pre-marital counselors and they said: ‘Hey, we want to challenge y’all for the first six months of marriage – don’t do a TV.’ Then, six months later we looked at each other and said, ‘How about another six months?’ And it just became one of those things where, 14 years later, we still don’t own one … So they [the Gaines children] don’t really understand that we have a show,” Joanna says. “They don’t get it.”
On Thursday, the Gaines finally weighed in on rumors that they’re working on baby number five, revealing that while they’d be “really excited” to get pregnant, only God knows if a fifth child is in store for their little family.
Clearly, Chip and Jo have their hands full raising four kiddos, running a 40-acre farm, and managing several ever-growing-businesses, but Joanna says adding to their family isn’t off the table.
When asked if she and Chip will have more children, Joanna told People: “I wish! I would love to have another baby, but I think Uncle Chucky is tired. I would love another baby — or twins! The kids are always asking me, ‘Mom, can you have another baby?’ But Chip thinks we’re done.”
Chip admitted: “I used to be the risk taker. Jo has completely lost her mind … I thought I’d always want more babies, you know, the more the merrier. After four, I was like, ‘I’m merry enough.'”
“Emmie has never really wanted [another sibling], and now she’s like, ‘Okay. I want a brother or sister,'” says Joanna. “So I’m thinking that might be a sign.”
Chip joked: “I think that’s a sign that Emmie’s lost her mind.”
Joanna shared: “I look at life as the more the better. If I found out we were having another baby, I would be really excited. We like a full plate. That’s just how Chip and I operate.”
While she’d be “really excited” to have another baby, Jo admitted that “between the farm, tons of animals, the babies, all the businesses,” she and Chip may be finished having children.

In the midst of their unparalleled success, Chip and Jo’s marriage has not only survived reality TV — it’s thrived. The couple credits their faith for their rock-solid, 14-year marriage. And despite their hectic schedules and ever-growing Magnolia empire, the Gaines have made their relationship their top priority.
Joanna shared: “Before all of this … we were doing ‘date night’ every Tuesday night, and we’re still doing ‘date night’ every Tuesday night, it’s kind of our time to say: ‘How’s it going? What’s going on?’ … I love a good steak every now and then, but we tend to frequent our local holes-in-the-wall for street tacos and queso. After dinner we get ice cream and drive around Waco to go down memory lane and visit our old stomping grounds.”
Joanna also revealed that she and Chip try to begin each day by sharing a cup of coffee on the porch before their little ones wake up. “I just feel like you can look up in 10 years and go: ‘Holy cow … there’s this huge divide between us,’ or you can consistently nurture this relationship. It’s work, it requires a lot of effort, a lot of time and connecting and talking. It’s not just: ‘Hey now we’re married, so let’s just figure it out. You actually have to maintain that.'”
Chip chimed in: “Jo and I both made a commitment pretty early on that the two of us are the most important variable. If we can figure out how to be right as a couple, then obviously we a have a lot better opportunity to be right for our kids.”
The power couple explained that business talk is prohibited on date night. Which is something we can all learn from, because let’s be honest — if Chip and Jo can manage to find time for date night, so can every other married couple!
Joanna shared: “We really enjoy the problem solving, but there comes a point when we need to focus on us. We have the weekly date nights where we try our hardest not to talk business.”
It’s so clear that Chip loves and cares for his gorgeous wifey, and the way Joanna respects and honors her husband is just as evident. As I was listening to Chip and Joanna share about their marriage, I just couldn’t help but think of Ephesians 5:33 which reads:
“But every husband should love his wife as he loves himself, and likewise, wives should respect their husbands.”
Thank you, Chip and Joanna, for giving America something positive to talk about. Your unashamed hope in Jesus Christ and love for one another is a beautiful sight to behold. The Gaines are truly a couple worth admiring. The world needs more brightly shining beacons of hope like Chip and Joanna Gaines. And America could use more wholesome family shows like “Fixer Upper!” Please share if you agree.
