While shopping at Target with his mother, Cameron Cook noticed something strange going on. A little girl seemed to be by herself, which is already a cause for alarm. But what Cameron saw next to her was the real terror.
Standing uncomfortably close to this little girl was a large man who obviously should not have been there. Cameron knew that something was not right. His mother, Heather, tried to continue her shopping, unaware of what Cameron was witnessing. But Cameron made his mother stop, he knew that someone had to step in.
“I seen the guy grabbing himself, and my mom goes, ‘Cam let’s go, keep walking,’ I was like, no, something’s going on,” Cameron said.
The 17-year-old walked up to this man, who was much bigger than Cameron, but that did not faze him. He started to interrogate the stranger, loudly asking about the man’s intentions.
“So I went up to him, I was like, ‘Excuse me sir, do you know her?’ And then the first thing he said was, ‘I’m not a pervert, I’m not a pervert.’ I was like, I didn’t ask you that sir,” the brave young man recalled.
But Cameron did not stop there. He continued to hound the man with question after question until the stranger took off out of the store.
“He was big, and Cameron had no fear at all. He just stood firm on the fact that he knew what this man was doing was wrong,” said Heather Cook.
Cameron may have saved this little girl from all types of horrors, but he does not want to be called a hero. In fact, Cameron says he was just glad he could be there to protect this little girl, “because you never know what could have gone on.”
Although he may not want the praise, Cameron Cook sure does deserve it. Share this teen’s brave story and help inspire others to follow his lead!
