Indiana Governor, and Donald Trump’s running mate, Mike Pence says that he is “so grateful to the pilots and to the first responders” after his plane slid off the runway at LaGuardia Airport on Thursday.
“It was about 10 seconds of uncertainty last night,” Pence said, but later added that “every landing you walk away from is a successful landing.”
As the plane came to a halt, the potential vice president made sure to check the back of the plane, where the press pool was located, and asked if everyone was ok. Fortunately for all on board, nobody was hurt.
“I just spoke to our future vice president,” said Donald Trump, who had heard of Pence’s accident during an Ohio rally. “Everybody’s fine. But what a great decision it was to get Mike Pence. What a great guy he is. What a great job he’s doing.”
Pence, who was to attend a fundraiser that evening, retired to his hotel for some much-needed, and well deserved rest (he did phone into the event). Even Hillary Clinton took the time to send her regards, saying she was “glad to hear Mike Pence, his staff, Secret Service, and the crew are all safe.”
Hopefully Governor Pence isn’t too shaken by this incident! I couldn’t imagine something as terrifying as watching your plane slide right off the runway. Thank the Lord everyone is alright!
