Van Jones, a CNN contributor, and one of president Trump’s most vocal critics, shocked the liberal media last night when he said that people “should be happy” with the president’s address to congress.
“For people who had been hoping he would become unifying, hoping that he might find someway to become presidential, they should be happy with that moment,” Jones said in the moments after Trump’s speech. “That was one of the most extraordinary moments you have ever seen in American politics, period.”
While democrat representatives remained seated throughout the address, Jones believes that Trump’s speech was the moment he truly “became president of the United States.”
“If he finds a way to do that over and over again, he’s going to be there for eight years.”
Democrat lawmakers did not share the same sentiments as Jones, as career politician Chuck Schumer believes Trump’s “speech will be forgotten in a day or two.”
“He’s given a whole lot of speeches, and we’ve seen that the speeches and the reality don’t match,” the senate’s top democrat told “Today” host Matt Lauer. “It’s hard to see any place where the president actually has done something for working people.”
Unfortunately for Schumer, it appears the nation is responding very well to Trump’s message. During his speech the president noted that America is “a country that stands united in condemning hate and evil in all of its very ugly forms.” Coincidentally, it was the democrat “leaders” who remained seated during this call to unify.
Towards the end of the speech, the president recognized the widow of Ryan Owens, the Navy SEAL who died during an operation in Yemen. In a shocking turn of events, a few democrats actually applauded for the fallen soldier.
Of course, the media has been quick to condemn the president’s speech, saying the gesture was “cynical,” and only done to make the president look good. Strangely, it’s the democrats sitting on their hands in “protest” who appear to have the ego problem.
Few expected the president to exhibit “presidential” behavior, but that’s precisely what happened. Now, the left-wing media is scrambling to come up with a narrative to sell to the American people. Folks will use talking points like “the bar has been lowered for Trump,” but the fact of the matter is the president delivered a message the world needed to hear.
