She Sat Next To Her Son To Sing An Old Gospel Hymn, But The Words She Chose Stunned Me

As you may know, having a baby changes everything. And this mom decided to write all about it. Her “mommy” rendition of Leonard Cohen’s famous song, “Hallelujah” is so perfect, it’s no wonder it’s gone totally viral.

The amazing singer and busy mommy, Shannon Christensen Abbot, wrote on Facebook: “I changed (the lyrics of ‘Hallelujah’) to fit my stay-at-home mommy life.”

Abbott says she had to set up a separate Fan Page because the attention her video was attracting was almost too overwhelming. Requests for her version of the lyrics were so plentiful, she even decided to post them on Facebook. She shared:

“It just goes to show that no matter where you are from, or what your background is, we all feel the power of music and the love we have for our sweet children. How blessed we are!”

Watch Abbot’s jaw-dropping, brutally honest and hilarious rendition now!

Wasn’t that just perfect? Thank God for the gift of children… and motherhood!

“Mommy Version” Of Hallelujah
Sit right there and I’ll tell you a tale,
Bout a Mother’s day and the mommy fails.
It’s a dirty job, but someone’s gotta do it.
It starts with diapers, spit-up, no sleep
He pulled my hair, I scraped my knee.
When nap-time comes I’ll sing, “Oh Hallelujah!”
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah!
It’s 3am and you’re wide awake,
Baby go to sleep for heaven sake!
Mama’s gonna be a zombie in the morning.
Yet daddy’s asleep without a care,
How does he do that!? It isn’t fair!
When I get to sleep I’ll sing, “Oh Hallelujah!”
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah!
Then there is my three-nager,
It’s like she’s three plus a teenager!
She thinks she knows it all and I know nothing.
With backwards shoes and princess dresses,
“I’ll do it myself” and lots of messes
When bedtime comes I’ll sing, “Oh Hallelujah!”
(Insert lots of hallelujah’s here)
I’m going to bed!
