As if we couldn’t love the power couple anymore, Chip and Jonna Gaines have truly outdone themselves this time. Fixer Upper fans, Austin and Kenzie Reddick were struggling to start their family, until they received an incredible gift from the Fixer Upper duo that pays back in a major way.
The Reddicks had always believed that God would provide a way for them to overcome the difficulty of having a baby of their own. But they just couldn’t seem to catch a break until Chip and Joanna stepped in and changed everything.
The determined couple went through extensive and pricey fertility treatments and three miscarriages. Before long, they found themselves starring down the path of adoption. This seemed to be the logical next step in their journey, but they were shocked by the hefty fees that come with adoption.
It was decided that the best route down this path was going to be a private domestic adoption, using Adoption.com instead of an agency, which had a $20,000-30,000 price tag. Austin and Kenzie needed to find a way to make this a reality — they needed a miracle.
Along with the rest of America, the couple watched Fixer Upper and were inspired time and time agin. Kenzie would find herself creating a “honey-do list” after each episode of things she requested her hubby to do around the house.
Kenzie would frequently joke, “Joanna Gaines is my spirit animal!”
One day it just dawned on her to put that simple phrase of endearment on a mug. She took the idea and ran with it.
Kenzie explained, “We realized that we could leverage the coffee mugs I have already been making for some time, as a fundraiser! 100% of the proceeds will go directly to bringing our baby home! Our goal is to make and sell 1,000 coffee mugs to get us to the $20,000 mark!”
Kenzie’s little Etsy shop, “Swallows Grace“ caught on like wildfire and they could hardly make their creative “Joanna” mugs fast enough.
It’s safe to say that people were obsessed with the product– including the Chip and Joanna themselves! It didn’t take long before they had reached there goal of $20,000 thanks to a little endorsement from a fella named Chip.
After hearing the couple’s story, Chip and Joanna felt compelled to help. So naturally, Chip purchased his very own mug and posted a photo to Instagram.
Thanks to influential boost from the Gaines, the Reddicks were able to experience the beauty of a child becoming a permanent part of their family.
After many prayers and countless supporters, the Reddicks finally got to meet their precious baby boy, Lane Everett Reddick. He was all that they had dreamed he would be and more. Their hearts were no longer aching and their family has finally begun to grow into what God had planned it to be.
The grateful new parents shared, “The moment our son was brought into the room was the most heart-rending, raw, God-filled moment of our entire lives. There was no way our hearts were prepared for that kind of love. It wrecked our souls and we knew our lives would forever be changed. The journey to get to him home was a difficult one, but the moment we held him for the first time made every heartache and every tear completely worth it. Adoption is truly the best thing to happen to us.”
Thank you Kenzie and Austin for showing us how being faithful to God and His word regardless of worldly circumstances can be fruitful if you stay the path. Thank God for Chip and Joanna Gaines!
