It might have taken him up to 9 months to earn the honored position of a Sentinel, guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
There have only been 622 badges awarded to be a Sentinel who guards the Tomb, but Specialist Brett Hyde was awarded the honored position and served for three years before today.
Hyde took his last walk in a formal ceremony where decorum was upheld for what is one of the most prestigious jobs in the Army.
“Even though it is my last walk, it’s still not really about me,” Hyde said. “It’s my last chance to pay respect to the unknown soldiers who gave everything.”
He is truly an inspiration and worth honoring!
